- He undergo hard drill training from Japanese trainer Hiromi Tomita before 1972 Olympic Games.
- Result of this training was silver medal.
- He did not won more big medals because of problems with knees (maybe aftermath of that hard drill).
- He had to miss 1976 Olympic Games in Montreal and soon after this he decided retire.
- He spent 3 years as trainer in Göteborg, Sweden and helped upgrade Swedish judo into higher level. Swedish judokas began winning medals.
- He came back in 1987.
- His charge Paweł Nastula became olympic champion in '90.
