- Probably the best technical (nojapanese) judoka in '70 and for many experts one of the best stylish judoka of all time.
- He was injuried before 1972 Olympic games and could not train and even walk.
- His olympic gold medal in Munich 1972 was big surprise for everybody especially when he won over Japanese World champions Fumio Sasahara in second round.
- He was not powerfull judoka and usually had lax stamina so the long tactical final matches were problem for him. That's why he never won European and World Championships.
- After retirement he begun working in various official positions in Georgian sport.
- He died in 2009 after hard illness.
