Bio
He was born Oxford in Great Britain because his father was postgraduate student of nuclear physics there. He then lived some time in California (USA) where he learned surfing.
He started with judo late at age of 14.
His wife is brazilian tv star Fiorella Mattheis.
After retirement he works in many own projects. He helps for example youg people from slum in Rio de Janeiro to do study and sport (judo).
Career and Style
Canto was incredible on the ground. His choking and armlocking were top-ranking. Diffrent against other newazaist was in technique. His ne-waza was pure technical not only poweful. He was also very good in sutemi-waza (tani-otoshi, uki-waza etc.
