• He was big favourite for olympic games 1996 but unfortunately he came late for weigh-in procedure so he could not start. Problem was in comunication between Georgian Olympic Team and jury.
• After Atlanta 1996 he was still frustrated by this administrative misunderstanding and result was that he quit with judo. He was 25 years old.
• Few months later he came back but only as Sambo player and won world championships two times.
