-He was born in Erfurt and begun with judo when he was 8 in club PSV Erfurt Judo under Jura Scholz.

-In 2004 he moved to Berlin where he trains in Sportclub Berlin e.V. under Jochen Bech and Detlef Ultsch.

-He is big rival with another german judoka Ole Bischof. They both fighting in half-middleweight category (-81kg).
