- He was known for his powerful and fast judo. He was one of the strongest judoka in half-heavyweight.
- His favorit technic was tai otoshi and he was also very strong on ground.
- He retired after 1976 Olympic Games in Montreal where he took bronze medal.
- After retirement he worked for British Judo Federation and later he moved to Hong Kong where he spent some years.
- Now he lives in Great Britain and France where he organizes judo seminaries mainly for young judokas.
- He is a 9th dan holder.
