He was known for his powerful and fast judo. He was one of the strongest judoka in half-heavyweight.
His favorit technic was tai otoshi and he was also very strong on ground.
He retired after 1976 Olympic Games in Montreal where he took bronze medal.
After retirement he worked for British Judo Federation and later he moved to Hong Kong where he spent some years.
Now he lives in Great Britain and France where he organizes judo seminaries mainly for young judokas.
He is a 9th dan holder.
