After retirement he became judo trainer. He was coaching Russian judokas during their matches in 2012 London Olympics.
Career and Style
Makarov had great psychical attributies and impressive ashi-waza (uchi-mata).
His olympic final match in 2004 Athens OG was one of the best match of the tournament.
