He was born in Kutaisi what is second biggest city in Georgia.
Career and Style
In beginning of his career he was in shadow of other Georgian judo players. His first big experience with big tournament was in 2005 when he was 23 years old.
Since 2007 he became number one for Middleweight category in Georgian judo team.
After winning Olympic gold medal in 2008 he decided move in Half-Heaweight category.
In 2011 after Tokyo Grand Slam he was positive tested for stimulant drug and he was banned for 3 months.<ref>http://www.news.az/articles/georgia/55035</ref> He has troubles with blood pressure and he used some medicament which prescribed him doctor. That's why he got such short punishment (inattention).
Tsirekidze had different judo style than most of other Georgian judokas. It was more westeuropean style based on very good moves and tactical direction of match. He had very strong ne-waza and he liked leg techniques like kouchu-gari. His another strong part was and is mental power. He is very charismatic, strong person.
After losing chance fight at 2012 London Olympic Games he decided retire.
In september 2012 he was chosen as head coach of Georgian judo team<ref>http://www.worldsport.ge/Read.aspx?news=42107&lang=2</ref>.
