Bio

He was born in Karaganda what is forth biggest city in Kazakhstan.

He is from judo family. His father Sergey is judo coach and former Soviet Champion and his two brothers are also judokas.

He is married and has one child.

Career and Style

Rakov was talented judo player and Kazakhstan Judo Federation gave him lot of spacee to fight among seniors from his youth age.

In 2007 he tored ligaments in his shoulder and underwent operation. He had to miss 2007 World Championships and the injury influenced his attendance at 2008 Beijing Olympic Games. His backup man Murat Kintonov lost his first match at 2007WCH and did not gain qualification ticket for the games. Last chance to gain ticket was at 2008 Asian Championships. Rakov started there but he failed.

Result of this failure was changing weight category. Since 2009 he is fighting in Half-Heavyweight category.

He became one of the best half-heavyweighter of his generation.

Rakov is nice stylish judo player with great physical attributies like agility, speed, strenght. His weak part is fighting under pressure. He is not very good mentally balanced. He needs to fall down to rise up again. Like he showed at 2012 London Olympic Games where he was number one seed by ranking system.
