Bio

He was born in Gori what is city near to capital city Tbilisi.

Career and Style

Shavdatuashvili was perspective Georgian youth but nobody could not expect in begining of year 2012 how rapidly and strong he will enter into seniors and even that he will qualify directly to the Olympic Games. He had no points in raking list before 2012. Georgia waited some years in Half-lightweight cathegory for judoka with quality which had Zaza Kedelashvili.

He lost his match againts Alim Gadanov in 2012 European Championships just for accumulating penalties. 4x penalty for Shavdatuashvili and 3x penalty for Gadanov.

His olympic gold medal was for some people big surprise but when they checked what kind of results he had got they changed their opinion. He was favorit for one of the medal but experts thought that he will be nervous by Olympic atmosfere and he will take bronze medal or 5th place. They were mistaken. Shavdatuashvili was nervous for sure but he was not more nervous than his opponents. This was his magic in Olympic tournament. He knew that he can beat the opponents and from beggining he was going for victory. Opponents many times did not know what wait from him.

Shavdatuashvili is very skilled and stylish judoka. He don't think much what he is doing. He just showing his best so his judo at this moment is not very much tied with tactics. It's typical for youngsters.
