- He was born and raised in a small Greek community in Georgia.
- He was practicing judo, wrestling and sambo but because of injury he had to left the idea do it in high competition level.
- In 1993 because of economy crisis in Georgia he moved with his family to their old homeland Greece.
- In Greece Nikos Iliadis found with his brothers Merab and Grigol a judo club in his new hometown.
- It can be said he is father of Greek judo.
- Since 2000 he was national trainer of Greece judo team.
- His adopted son is judoka Ilias Iliadis (1986).
