  • His father is from Azerbaijan and mother from Ukraine.
  • He is younger brother of Ruslan Mirzaliyev.
  • After winning WCH in 2001 he got offer to fight for Russia where were better opportunities (finance) but also many competitors, rivals.<ref>Very similar story had Giorgi Zantaraia in 2009. After winning world championships he did not receive promising money and he was thinking about changing citizenships.</ref>
  • Later he came back under Ukrainian flag and from 2010 he represents Azerbaijan.
  • He is typical example of judoka who blow up in very young age but just after that he was almost forgetten. Reason why this happend must be seen in his moving to Russia.
