Bio

He came to Tbilisi when he was 15 years old from Khevsureti (mountain region). From young age he was trained by Shota Khabareli.

He is cousin of Ilias Iliadis but they don't talk with each other. Problem of their communication is not that Iliadis is fighting under Greece flag or that he changed name. He many times spoke up for him in this case. He undestands reason why he did it.

He is politician in Georgia these days.

Career and Style

Powerful and stylish this was Zurab Zvidauari. He had great tachi-waza especially throwing techniques. He had weak parts also. He was so active that he was often catched in contra technique. He was not strong on the ground.

In 2000 he was too young athought he had already level to fight for medals in Sydney OG. His time came 4 years later. After losing two finals in World Championships he won gold medal in 2004 Athens OG. His way to final was straight. He had only one critical situation when Winston Gordon pull him down and referee just called wazari. In final match he knew how to beat Izumi. He was waiting for o-osoto-gari and when Izumi made it he contra him with o-osoto-gaeshi.

After olympic games in Athens he had troubles with his body. Especially his back (intervertebral discs) was ruined by hard training. He almost disappered from big tournaments but he definitely retire in 2012. His pro career was short 2001-2005 but successful.
